The
Post-Byzantine Art Museum of Zante
South of Solomos Square, in the capital of Zante is the post-Byzantine
Art Museum of the island which houses various ecclesiastical items
dating from the 12th century to the 18th century and various works
of art made by famous Ionian and Cretan painters.

Museum of Dionysios Solomos and Eminent Zakynthians
Standing
on the square of Saint Markos is a museum dedicated to famous Greek
poet who wrote the Greek National Hymn, Dionysios Solomos, and exhibits
a collection of the poet’s manuscripts and personal objects as well
as the mausoleum of Solomos. |

This museum
also houses another collection containing many portraits, clothes
and furniture of prominent Zakynthians as well as blazons of nobles,
icons, black and white photographs and even an archaeological collection.

Museum of Grigorios Xenopoulos.
Situated nearby the Church of Agios Dionysios, close to the port
of the capital of Zante, the museum is dedicated to the life and
work of the Greek novelist and playwriter Grigorios Xenopoulos (1867-1951).
A collection of manuscripts and personal objects of the artist are
housed in the museum as well as some furniture of the writer’s period.
Vertzagio Folk Museum
Pigadakia village, 2 kilometres from the village of Alykes, has
a nice folk museum which is a reconstitution of a traditional house
with its dinning room, kitchen and bedroom, all decorated with traditional
furniture and every day utensils.
The museum also hosts an old grape and olive grind.
